Hearing the voice of God when it feels like you can’t.

“I’ve been told I can hear the voice of God but, when I’m sitting in my room with my Bible, I really feel like I can’t. I ask questions and I wait patiently but it feels like nothing comes. Thoughts pop into my mind – and sometimes they’re good ideas or helpful answers – but I don’t know if it’s God or just me. Help!”

Maybe this is how you feel too. The purpose of this blog post is to move you to a place where you can confidently say “I

How to live life to the fullest.

God is so kind and tender towards us. He knows what we need and He loves us so much.

I’m so grateful for what He has done for me, and my loved ones, this year. He is so faithful. So thoughtful. Always perfectly on time.

A Living Hope in 2021 (and forever)

We can all agree that 2020 was a crazy year. But 2021 has just started – so what now? My encouragement to you is this:

Don’t stop dreaming. Don’t press pause. Don’t shut down.

So many people were hanging on for New Year’s Eve secretly wondering if, perhaps at midnight, a switch would be flipped and life would be different as of January – and it just didn’t happen.

RIP DEAD RELIGION

When you are dealing with something of SUBSTANCE, you don’t need to worry when the layers are peeled back because the core will remain intact.

What does that mean in the context of serving Christ?

God’s grace doesn’t fit in boxes of our making.

God’s grace doesn’t fit in boxes of our making. What a refreshing thought. Opportunities to judge others will always present themselves. But it’s worth resisting that temptation – every single time.

As Believers, we know that we are ‘not to judge,’ we are to ‘esteem others as greater than ourselves’ and, mostly importantly, ‘love others.’ It’s easy to nod in agreement to that. It’s quite different to walk it out on the daily. As you would’ve realised, people are complex, and their lives are often messy. But complications aside, our

Same Same But Same: Being still in the sameness

Adventure. Excitement. Novelty. Who doesn’t love the feelings newness brings? And oh, there’s so much to do and so much to see on this little green earth. But sometimes we’re required to do something bigger than moving overseas or changing careers: sometimes we’re asked to stay.

How To Not Be A Slave To Your Feelings

Feelings are a very real part of life. I’m a ‘feely’ type person (I know I’m not the only one) and it’s often as though I feel every emotion at a heightened level. This is a beautiful thing when it comes to feeling compassionate or joyful – but not so much when feeling sad or discouraged.

Becoming People Who Persevere

My Husband has recently started making sourdough bread from scratch, and boy is it a process. He originally had to grow the starters (a mix of flour and water kept in a jar) and then ‘feed’ them each day for over a week. During this time, our three stinky ‘pets’ grew and sometimes overflowed their fermented selves onto my tumble dryer. Yuck.

Is He The One?

IF YOU ARE A YOUNG WOMAN WITH THE DESIRE TO GET MARRIED, you’ve probably asked the question ”Is he the one?” If you’re anything like me, your past also has some failed relationships and disappointments. One good thing that comes from that are lessons learned.

Naked & Bare

HAVE YOU EVER done something wrong, or fallen back on an old habit you thought you’d overcome, only to have feelings of unworthiness and guilt descend upon you? They settle with claws in your heart and whisper in your ear that to draw near to God is not an option: ‘You failed and so God is angry with you. You did it and you knew it was wrong. You call yourself a Christian? Hypocrite.’

Beauty Worth Embracing

I FIND BEAUTY FASCINATING. It’s true that sunrises, art pieces and orchids can be beautiful – but the Beauty we’re exploring today is Beauty as it relates to People. Irrespective of your age, race, or cultural background – I’m sure you will agree that Beauty is valued in society today. My question, however, is this: what is True Beauty and what it is not?

Being > Doing

I LIKE TO-DO LISTS. If you’re a doer like me, it may have crossed your mind that having a clear To-Do list from God where you can tick off items one by one would be super helpful. Thankfully this is not how He works. A To-Do list would negate the need for both faith and relationship and would result in us “running ahead,” trying to do stuff in our own strength. The real tragedy, however, would not be the mess we would undoubtedly make, but rather the tragedy of missing

Starting Somewhere With God

WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE. This is true for everything really: how can we start anywhere but at the beginning? And doesn’t the end of something often look very different from the beginning – and even the process in the middle? Think of a cake. An iced cake looks very different from the gooey mixture in the oven – and vastly unlike the individual ingredients at the beginning.

Worry-Free Work

THE LORD IS OUR PROVIDER. We know this intellectually, as Believers, but do we believe it? Sometimes we need to take a moment to check our hearts and see whether we’ve placed our faith for having our daily needs met in God – or in our jobs. And we shouldn’t wait until we’re faced with potential retrenchment in order to do it!

Don’t Be Afraid!

I REMEMBER BEING THIRTEEN and still afraid of the dark; more specifically – what I perceived to be in the dark. I had done myself a disservice by watching multiple scary movies with my friends (it was a “sleepover standard” for us) but I was also once told a story – in children’s church – about a demon that the teacher had encountered.

Celebrating Others

IT IS VITAL that celebrating others and clapping for their successes becomes a genuine and intentional part of our lives. This is something that we may need to learn to do as opposed to doing instinctively.

True Satisfaction In A World Of Smoke & Mirrors

ONCE UPON A DARK TIME, I loved to party. One morning I had to go to a club because I had misplaced my driver’s license the night before. For those of you’ve ever done this, you will know that a club in the light is a vile thing. Everything is cheap and tacky and filthy. All the supposed glitz and glamour of the night before has disappeared. Any satisfaction has fled and all that is left is a disappointing reality.

The Comforter: A Mother’s Love

DID YOU KNOW that the LORD comforts us – not only with a Fathers love – but with a Mother’s love too? He offers us more than what we could ever hope to receive from any one person. He longs to gather us under His wings like a Mother Hen gathers her chicks under her wings! Sometimes we forget that we can ASK Holy Spirit – the Comforter – to comfort us! The beautiful thing is that He is always willing.
